Kucinich Struggling to Raise Money for Presidential Run

Campaign finance reports filed Tuesday show Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich has not raised the millions of dollars needed for a presidential campaign.

Documents filed with the Federal Election Commission show the Cleveland Democrat has raised about $180,000 in the first three months of the year.

A presidential primary campaign usually costs between $20 million and $30 million.

Most of Kucinich's contributions are from individuals rather than interest groups.

Documents show Kucinich has spent about $130,000 on his Web site, travel and office expenses, leaving him with about $50,000.

A Smell the Blog poll was done asking prospective voters why they thought Kucinich was having a hard time raising funds. "He's a wingnut" led all responses with 43% followed by "Who?" with 38% and "a vast conspiracy between the mafia, right wing chickenhawks and Dom DeLuise" trailed at 11%.

Israel's Sharon Calls Syria's Assad an Ass-ad

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, calling Syrian President Bashar al-Assad dangerous and prone to risky mistakes, has urged the United States to turn up the heat on Damascus.

"Let's face it," said Sharon in a brief statement to the press today, "Bashar al-Assad is not the brightest bulb in the house, if you catch my drift. Hey, there's a reason his name is Ass-ad. Get it? ASS-ad?! What an Ass-ad that guy is! Ha ha ha!"

"In the Iraq war (Assad) proved he was incapable of drawing conclusions from very obvious facts," Sharon said.

"Anyone with eyes in his head would have known that Iraq was going to be on the losing side. But Assad thought the United States was going to fail. That just proves my point that Bashar is an!"

When asked for a response to Prime Minister Sharon's remarks, al-Assad paused for a moment before saying, "uhhhh...Takes one to know one! Recover from that fat man!"
